Alex Volkman

UX + UI Designer

Some designers make things look better. Alex makes them make sense.

As JayRay’s UX/UI specialist, Alex has spent more than a decade helping people navigate websites, brands and digital experiences without needing a treasure map. He has a knack for spotting the one thing standing between a user and a great experience, then quietly making it disappear. Equal parts visual designer, strategist and problem-solver, he believes the best design doesn’t draw attention to itself — it simply helps people get where they need to go.

Alex’s path has taken him from tribal marketing to nearly 11 years shaping digital experiences at the University of Washington Tacoma, where he helped students, faculty and community members navigate everything from admissions to campus resources with confidence. Along the way, he’s developed a reputation for turning complexity into clarity and making complicated systems feel surprisingly simple.

As a kid, Alex dreamed of becoming a cartoonist. That creative spark never left. Today, it shows up in custom illustrations, clever visual solutions and an endless curiosity for how things work.

When he’s off the clock, you’ll likely find him adventuring with his kids, walking the dog, playing drums or creating “Wait, you can do that?” moments around the office with a newly discovered shortcut.
