Core Themes Strengthen the Story
More than 113,000 people rely on Catholic Community Services for life’s essentials, from housing to mental health care. Yet its funding partner, Catholic Charities Foundation, wasn’t widely understood beyond the social services world. JayRay partnered with CCF to clarify its story and strengthen connections with donors of all backgrounds, building a messaging platform that reflects both the scale of the work and the humanity behind it.
GUIDING THOUGHT
When impact spans many services, clarity becomes essential. A strong brand doesn’t simplify the work — it connects it. By grounding messaging in shared purpose and human stories, organizations can unify complex systems into a narrative that resonates with donors, partners and the people they serve.

Listening Before Leading
We started by listening — through surveys, interviews, a communications audit and a review of peer organizations. Then we stepped into the work itself, visiting multiple sites to meet staff and witness services in action. Those moments shaped everything that followed.
Working alongside an advisory group, we defined core brand pillars and built a comprehensive messaging platform including voice, key messages, proof points and storytelling guidance. The result was a practical, people-first framework that staff could use consistently across fundraising, communications and outreach.

Finding the Throughline Together
CCF’s work is broad, and so are the voices behind it. Our process created space for those perspectives, bringing staff, leadership and stakeholders into the conversation through collaborative workshops and iterative messaging development.
Reaching consensus took time, care and a fair amount of wordsmithing. But it ensured the final messaging wasn’t just approved — it was owned. And those early site visits? Worth every schedule shuffle. Seeing the work up close gave us the clarity and conviction needed to tell the story well.
