Good design solves problems people don’t always know they’re having. That’s one reason we’re pleased to welcome designer Alex Volkman to JayRay. With more than a decade of experience in digital design, UX/UI strategy and accessibility, Alex brings a thoughtful approach to creating experiences that are both beautiful and easy to use.
Alex joins the agency as demand continues to grow for accessible, user-centered websites and digital experiences that help organizations better serve their audiences. His experience spans higher education, hospitality, branding and digital communications.
Before joining JayRay, Alex spent nearly 11 years at the University of Washington Tacoma, where he served as a digital web and UX designer. He led website and user experience design efforts while supporting digital marketing campaigns, accessibility initiatives, environmental graphics, event branding and university-wide communications projects. He also helped optimize the student admissions journey and improve content management processes across the institution. Prior to UW Tacoma, Alex worked as a graphic designer for Skagit Valley Casino Resort, creating marketing materials, signage and digital experiences that supported the property’s overall brand presence.
A graduate of Western Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Alex brings a unique blend of visual creativity, technical expertise and user-centered thinking.
“Alex strengthens an area of growing importance for our clients,” said Bridget Baeth, principal and co-owner of JayRay. “Organizations today need websites and digital experiences strategically designed around the people using them.”
For Alex, great design starts with listening.
“When people feel heard and leave confident in the direction we’re heading, that’s the best outcome,” he said.
Outside of work, Alex can often be found spending time with his kids, walking the dog, playing drums or debating the merits of Ticket to Ride versus Monopoly (Monopoly loses every time).
Please join us in welcoming Alex to the JayRay team.
