JayRay’s new advisor Cara Sjogren has lived and worked on four continents building a portfolio of experience in social media, sports marketing, economic development and the business of tourism. She has returned to Tacoma to work with JayRay’s tourism and nonprofit clients.

During two years with the Peace Corps, she partnered with Peruvian stakeholders to develop a women’s entrepreneurship program and assist with economic development projects to promote regional tourism.

She pursued film and communication projects during studies in Barcelona, Spain, and Manila, Philippines.

“Cara’s enthusiasm for exploration and her social media expertise make her a perfect fit for our clients seeking to appeal to would-be visitors craving travel again,” said Kathleen Deakins, JayRay president.

A Pacific Lutheran University graduate, Sjogren worked as a student in the athletics and recreation department. She was responsible for social media strategies, storytelling, website improvements and event planning that boosted student engagement.

Away from work, Sjogren enjoys hiking and photography, and spending time on the golf course with her husband.
