Projects supporting local business and job seekers earned JayRay and its clients four Communicator Awards in the national recognition program.

Within weeks of the governor’s first shutdown order, the City of Puyallup established itself as a reliable source of help for desperate businesses. The “Choose Puyallup” campaign, created by JayRay, equipped businesses with easy-to-use resources for financial assistance, a promotional video and news updates on an all-new website. A complementary social campaign for residents promoted four ways they could support their beloved local businesses.

JayRay blended authenticity and strategy into an integrated “support local” marketing campaign with the City of Renton. “Make Yourself At Home” highlighted six retail neighborhoods through an online gift guide. Five social media influencers promoted the effort and a staycation sweepstakes. Quirky neighborhood flair came through in social distancing decals, A-boards and custom floor mats for businesses.

Experience Olympia & Beyond wanted to lift spirits and remind locals that the holidays could still be fun—they just looked a little different. JayRay created an on-brand “decidedly different” holiday gift guide featuring uniquely Thurston County items and experiences. A series of animated GIFs delivered a humorous and relatable approach through a media buy on social media, Connected TV and digital.

When the pandemic forced people out of work, WorkForce Central and its service arm WorkSource Pierce added virtual resources to help job seekers and employers. JayRay wrote a series of blog posts to highlight special needs and resources for military families, new graduates and women in the economic recovery. The blogs used local and national data for context, laid out the challenge and highlighted community solutions.
